Taxi

How does taxi pricing work?

At Diggers Taxis, we calculate your fare based on several variables. One of two base rates will be applied depending on the booking time and day of the week. The meter will then accumulate during your ride based on kilometers travelled – or a per minute basis when waiting or if you get stuck in traffic. For maxi taxis there’s a 50% surcharge on top of the overall rate with any tolls, Passenger Service Levies or additional charges applied at the end. For further detail check out our ‘fares’ section or contact us.

How many seats are in a maxi taxi?

At Diggers Taxis, we operate Toyota maxi taxis that seat up to 7 people at a time. You’ll need to book one of these when you have more than 4 passengers total (maximum sedan capacity), unless you’d like to go bigger! If you do, we also operate 11 seat minibuses and 57 seat coaches to get you where you need to go. To book in, simply pick up the phone and call.

Are babies allowed in taxis without a car seat?

In New South Wales, children under 12 months old aren’t allowed to travel in a taxi unless they’re secured in an approved car seat. For those under 6 months, a rear facing seat is required; for those between 6 and 12 months, a forward facing restraint with inbuilt harnessing is permitted.

If you’re planning to travel with a baby or toddler, let us know beforehand and we can make the appropriate arrangements.
